New Mobility World: PTV solution calculates robust Mobility as a Service business cases

With PTV MaaS Modeller, public and private fleet operators develop solid business cases for shared mobility services

Karlsruhe, 07.09.2017. For the first time, PTV Group is part of the New Mobility World exhibition at booth B27. From 12 September until 17 September 2017, the leading software technology company for traffic, transport and logistics present their Mobility as a Service (MaaS) Accelerator Program, which calculates business cases from the planning stage to the real-time operating phase. PTV MaaS Modeller is the first of four components, to turn shared on-demand fleet services into successful business models for cities and automotive companies.

Meeting the growing demand for mobility services with a minimum number of vehicles is key to cut congestion and air pollution improving the quality of life in cities. But before integrating a shared fleet into an existing infrastructure of public transportation, the use case needs to be fully analysed and modelled: future MaaS providers want to know how many vehicles are required to run and maintain the service within a public transport network. Other key performance indicators are the pricing as well as the waiting and the journey times. Calculating them helps avoids delays and reduces the frustration of the passengers.

PTV MaaS Modeller gives cities and car manufacturers a tool to develop their business models for the future modelling shared fleets of autonomous electric vehicles. To be able to do so, PTV Group’s technology is not only based on a mobility provider’s key performance indicators, but also on a city’s travel demand models and traffic data.

Sustainable and efficient: the mobility ecosystem of the future

In the multimodal mobility ecosystem of the future, MaaS will play a role as will autonomy and clean vehicle technology, as well as a strong public transport and active mobility. Combined with real-time data and traffic prediction, drivers, passengers as well as pedestrians and cyclists profit from a more sustainable and efficient infrastructure.

At the Speakers’ corner, Miller Crockart, Vice President Global Sales & Marketing at PTV Group, explains how smart cities integrate MaaS together with other modes of transport to form an on-demand mobility ecosystem that is future-proof. His talk “Meeting the demand: how to create a balanced ecosystem for the mobility of the future” is scheduled on Friday, 15 September 2017 from 1:00pm – 1:30pm.
