Karlsruhe, March 20, 2017. Logistics and traffic software specialist PTV Group introduces the cloud-based route scheduling solution PTV Route Optimiser. The tool combines PTV’s renowned routing algorithms with exceptional customisability and flexibility, making it easy to schedule deliveries, calculating the best route and balancing the usage of the fleet – no matter where you are.
In today’s connected environments, logistics companies are looking for flexible software solutions, enabling them to use their existing IT infrastructure and to work wherever they are. That is why PTV Group extended its range of cloud solutions by adding the flexible scheduling and route optimisation tool PTV Route Optimiser. The programme runs online, is easily accessible via the internet and can be integrated with business, fleet and transport management software.
Improving efficiency of fleet and business
Whether daily or weekly plans, mixed transports, warehouse or direct deliveries – PTV Route Optimiser automatically schedules orders for optimised routes, taking into account all relevant restrictions, such as truck attributes, depot opening hours, driving times, the number of vehicles, the type of freight or customer-specific time windows for delivery. Thanks to the fully-automatic and standardised process, the routes for an entire fleet can be scheduled at once, preventing errors and reducing planning time to minutes.
PTV Route Optimiser is a complete scheduling solution allowing for management and planning not only of routes, but also fleets, drivers, depots and logistics networks. The tool works by linking the warehousing and transport systems with a company’s sales process, meaning better control of resources and improved information flow. In addition to that, the software makes proposals on how to increase efficiency, for example by adjusting the core fleet, improving the mix of vehicles, saving vehicles by double shifting them or by combining collections with deliveries. It also allows for seasonal planning with peaks and troughs and helps to reduce the carbon footprint by saving kilometres and resources.
Cutting operational costs by optimising routes
Professional route scheduling can lead to significant cost savings, regardless of the size of the fleet. Users of PTV Route Optimiser report savings an average 10 per cent on their fleet costs, with many reporting that figure is in excess of 25 per cent, with a low capital investment and attractive monthly rates. This way, the software pays off financially from the very first day. In addition to that, concise reporting makes it easy to keep an eye on KPIs, resources, costs and revenues.
